Starred and recent
Star pages, work items, projects and conversations, and get back to what you recently viewed or edited.
Starred is one screen for everything you’ve bookmarked and everywhere you’ve been recently: pages, work items, projects and conversations together. Use it when you want to get back to something quickly, or answer “where was I?”.
The three lists#
| List | Shows | Each row says |
|---|---|---|
| Starred | Everything you have starred | when you starred it, e.g. starred 2d ago |
| Recently viewed | What you have opened, most recent first | when you last opened it, e.g. opened 5m ago |
| Recently edited | What you have changed, most recent first | when you last edited it, e.g. edited 1h ago |
Each row also shows the kind of thing it is: Page, Work item, Project or Conversation. Choose a row to open it. Long lists load in pages; choose Show more to load the next.
Who can use it#
Everyone. Starred is always in the sidebar, and the lists are only ever yours. Nobody else, including administrators, can see what you’ve starred or what you’ve been reading.
Star something#
Open the item
For example, open a document.
Choose Star
The Star button is at the top of the page. It changes to Starred. Choose it again to remove the star.
Find it again
Choose Starred in the sidebar. The item is at the top of the Starred list.
Starring is not following
A star is a private bookmark. It doesn’t give you access to anything, doesn’t tell anyone you did it, and doesn’t send you notifications. To hear about changes, use Follow, the separate button beside it. See Following and watching.
Limitations#
- Anything you can no longer open quietly disappears from all three lists, whether it was deleted or its sharing changed. The list doesn’t say which.
- Comments and individual chat messages can’t be starred, because they don’t have a page of their own.
- Goals and support tickets can’t be starred yet.
- A row for a kind of item that has no screen to open is shown without a link rather than as a broken one.
Frequently asked questions#
Can anybody see what I have starred?
No. Your starred and recent lists are private to you.
Something vanished from my starred list. Why?
Either it was deleted or you can no longer open it, for example because its visibility changed or a share ended.
Are my recent items shared between devices?
Yes. The lists are kept with your account, so what you opened on one computer shows up on another.
