What the UnitX iPhone and Android app offers, how to sign in, how it works offline, app lock and push notifications.
The UnitX mobile app for iPhone and Android is a companion to the web app, built for the things you do on the move: checking what is assigned to you, deciding approvals, reading your notifications and messages, and looking something up. It keeps what you last saw on the device so you can still read it with a poor connection, and approvals you decide offline send themselves when you are back online.
An early release
The mobile app is at an early version (0.1.0) and covers a focused set of tasks. Setting up projects, administering your organization and most editing are done in the web app.
Signing in#
Enter your email and password
Use the same account as on the web and choose Sign in. Signing in needs a connection.
Enter your second factor, if you have one
If your account uses an authenticator app, enter the Six-digit code, or a recovery code and choose Confirm. Choose Start over to go back.
- Accounts whose only second factor is a passkey or security key can’t finish signing in on the app yet; the app says so. Add an authenticator app to your account on the web (see Two-factor authentication) to sign in on mobile.
- Single sign-on is not available in the mobile app.
- After too many failed attempts you’ll see “Too many attempts. Try again in a few minutes.”
- If you tapped a UnitX link before signing in, the app says “Sign in to open the link you tapped” and takes you there afterwards.
What’s in the app#
The tab bar along the bottom has five tabs.

More screens#
- Search: work items, documents and projects you have access to. Results of a kind the app can’t open yet are marked “No screen yet”.
- CRM: customer records created on the web.
- Quick actions: shortcuts to find something, decide an approval, see what is overdue, and check what is waiting to sync.
- Account: switch organization, lock the app, register for notifications, and manage where you are signed in.
- You can open work items, documents and projects from lists and links.
Working offline#
The app stores what you’ve recently looked at on the device. When you lose your connection:
- lists show what you last saw, with a note such as “You are offline; this is what you last saw”;
- work items, documents and projects you have opened before can still be read; one you have never opened shows Not available offline;
- search and your notifications list need a connection;
- approval decisions are Saved on this device and send themselves when you are back online.
Waiting to sync#
Actions you took offline wait in a queue. The Today tab tells you how many are waiting, and the Waiting to sync screen lists them. The app retries automatically, waiting a little longer each time, and gives up after eight attempts. From the screen you can:
- Try now to send everything straight away;
- see anything marked Changed elsewhere (someone else changed the same thing first) or Not accepted (UnitX refused it, for example because you no longer have permission);
- choose Send it again or Throw mine away for each of those.
When the queue is empty you’ll see “Everything you have done is on the server.”
Locking the app#
Under Account, turn on Lock the app. After two minutes away, UnitX asks you to unlock with Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode. If your phone has no biometrics enrolled, it uses your passcode. On the lock screen you can also choose Sign out to start fresh.
Push notifications#
Open Account
Go to Account and find Notifications on this device.
Choose Register this device
Allow notifications when your phone asks.
Whether notifications then arrive on your phone depends on your UnitX installation having a push provider set up. The Account screen tells you plainly if the device is registered but nothing will arrive yet, if notifications are turned off in your phone’s settings, or if the device can’t receive them. What you receive is controlled by your notification preferences.
Organizations and sessions#
- Under Organization on the Account screen, choose Switch to change to another organization you belong to.
- Where you are signed in lists your sessions, with This device marked. Sign out one, or choose Sign out everywhere else. See Sessions and login history.
Frequently asked questions#
An item says “Not available”.
It may have been deleted, or it was never shared with you. If you are offline and have never opened it, it says “Not available offline” instead.
I decided an approval offline. Did it go through?
It is saved on the device and sent when you reconnect. Check Waiting to sync: if it isn’t listed there, it has been sent.
Can I create projects or change settings in the app?
Not yet. Use the web app for setup and administration.
