Language and region
Choose your language, time zone and date format, and set organization defaults for week start and currency.
Language and region settings decide how dates, times, numbers and money are written for you, and which time zone times are shown in. You set your own preferences; administrators set the defaults new members start with.
Who can use it#
Everyone can set their own preferences under SettingsLanguage & region.

Choose a language and region
Language and region decides how dates, numbers and currency are written. The options are English, English (United Kingdom), English (United States), English (Australia), English (India), German (Germany), French (France), Spanish (Spain) and Japanese (Japan).
Choose your time zone
Time zone decides the clock times you see. Times are stored once and shown in your zone, so daylight saving is handled for you.
Choose a date format
Date format can follow your language’s convention, or be fixed as Short (04/03/2026), Medium (4 Mar 2026) or Long (4 March 2026).
Check the preview and save
With your current settings shows a sample date, date and time, number and money amount. Choose Save preferences; the change applies straight away.
Your preferences apply to you everywhere in UnitX, on any device, and override the organization defaults.
Translations
Choosing German, French, Spanish or Japanese changes how dates, numbers and currency are formatted. The text of the app is currently in English only.
Examples#
With the date format left on “Follow my language’s convention”, most dates in the app are written like this:
| Language and region | 3 April 2026 is shown as | 1234567.89 is shown as |
|---|---|---|
| English (United States) | Apr 3, 2026 | 1,234,567.89 |
| English (United Kingdom) | 3 Apr 2026 | 1,234,567.89 |
| German (Germany) | 3. Apr. 2026 | 1.234.567,89 |
Organization defaults#
Administrators see an Organization defaults section below their own preferences. Changes save as soon as you pick a value.
- Default language and region and Default time zone: what a new member starts with, and what UnitX uses when nobody is viewing, such as for a scheduled export.
- Week starts on: Monday, Sunday or Saturday.
- Default currency: USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, AUD, CAD, INR, PKR or AED. This is only the default for new records; an existing amount keeps the currency it was recorded in.
Members who have set their own preference keep it when the defaults change.
Frequently asked questions#
Why is an amount still in euros after I changed my region?
The currency belongs to the record, not to you. An invoice raised in euros stays in euros; your region only changes how the amount is written.
I changed the organization default and nothing changed for me.
Your own preference overrides the default. The default affects new members and anyone who hasn’t set a preference.
Whose time zone do quiet hours and Inbox snoozes use?
Yours. See Notification preferences.
